In summer 2017 I painted 3 murals on the exterior of Sinkka Museum in Kerava Finland, which became the face of the museum. This happened during their impressive group show “For the love of Freedom“, the first exhibition focusing solely on Graffiti Art in Finland. I was lucky to be a part of this show, not just with my exterior work, but also with an installation in the show.
The museum was closed over the past year for a major renovation. During this period parts of my mural had to be deinstalled and had been damaged in the process. So, the museum asked me to come back to Finland and fix the damaged sections.
It took me 4 days to complete the renovation in cold and windy conditions. Every damaged section was primed prior to the painting and sealed with a varnish when I was finished with the 72 colors it took. I used a nice and silent electrical lift to reach the top parts of the wall.
I was positively surprised to see that the mural had stayed fresh and bright after 9 years under the northern sun. It’s proof that good materials make a massive difference in the long run. I will prepare an extra post about durability and fading murals at a later point.
For those who have a chance to visit the museum – it will re-open on June 6th with the exhibition Arte Povera Poetica. Click the link for more info.
Here are some photos from 2017, from last winter and with the fixed mural on May 1st 2026:
